I drew her whole body in sharpie and then let it sit in my closet for awhile. Then randomly, I took it out and inked/scanned it. Her legs were all disproportionate so I took them out. That's a frequent problem I have when drawing. But I think it looks okay cropped as-is. I was going to title it Lady Pain but then that just immediately associated with Midol or cramps in my head so I decided against it.

The Kiss 2

The Kiss 2
Winter 2008
Sharpie/Photoshop Cs3

This was relatively simple, since I just drew one continuous line. Then photoshopped the details in. I like the shape and colors.

I entered this into a contest to decide the logo of the on-campus Information Management Association. It did not win. Boo.

Gambit

More "fan art". Gambit is cool. I wish I could throw cards and have them explode at people sometimes.

This is a page from my senior project book. My favorite page, actually. I came across the color palette mostly by accident but I think it works.

Did this really quick because I'm on a Sinatra kick.

10 x 6 i think

The line work was going to be a background for something else I was working on, but this started looking cooler than anything that was in the foreground.

I don't know where this came from but I'm really attracted to the overacting of comics and stuff and this just kinda came out. Trying to resolve color issues as well. It seems to have a narrative although what that narrative is, your guess is as good as mine. I cropped it because it started looking like a damn New Balance ad. Also, I can't think of a title for it.

Up Down

"Up Down"
Scanned Sketch/CS2
Fall 2008

I did some sketches of my head from different angles. No, I'm not that into myself. I just like angles.

Johns and Guitar

"Johns and Guitar"
8.5x11
Pencil/ballpoint
Spring 2008

This is one of my favorites from last semester. Done from a photo. I couldn't see the other hand and I couldn't decide how to draw it since it was missing so I drew a couple just to get a feel. Then I realized it looked kinda crazy so I kept it. I'm particularly proud of the lowest hand since it looks very Renaissance to me for some reason. Like a delicate, delicate cherub.

From my Italy sketchbook. Trying the fish-eye lens idea.

The Punisher

"The Punisher"
Sharpie/ps
8.5x12
Summer 2008

One of the best superheroes (or anti-superheroes) out there. Too bad the movie was only semi-good. Who the fuck cast John Travolta in that? Shame on you.
I think the best part about this kind of comic art is that you can use minimal lines and get the point across. Which you would think would be easy since not much is put on paper, but it's actually really difficult. Still playing around with this idea.

Jackson 2

"Jackson 2"
Sharpie/ps
8.5x12
Summer 2008

This somehow looks like a woodcut, although that was unintentional. And I could probably never do a woodcut like this because I've tried and they don't agree with me. I do enjoy the angle. I wish it was alittle more drastic though.

Low

Hands are cool. Guitars are cool. Hands with guitars in them are even cooler.

Blue Man

Messing around with transitioning colors. Sunglasses are harder to draw than one would think, but these came out alright.

Johns 2

"Johns 2"

Fall 2007

The nose isn't that great but the line weight and angle is kind of cool.

Johns

By far, my favorite of the Johns series.

DJ

Another Daniel Johns. No reason for the green, except that it's a nice color.

Tired

Daniel Johns. Particularly proud of this for the sheer difficulty of the angle. Damn you, angle.

Bernini Statue

Wish I could specify which statue this is but I did it from a photo. I love Bernini's folds in clothing. It's very graphic.
